The English Language Centre offers a year-round programme of General English courses intended for students seeking to improve their English, for personal and professional purposes.

English for IELTS and other exams
The English Language Centre offers courses designed to prepare students for key University of Cambridge ESOL exams. The most important of these is probably IELTS, the main university entrance proof of English level test. We also offer expert advice and assistance on applying to UK Colleges and Universities.

FCE Exam Preparation Course
The FCE exam Preparation Course is designed for students who intend to take their Cambridge First Certificate in English. The next course is linked to the December 7th FCE exam date. The full course lasts for 13 weeks (12 weeks tuition followed by the week of the exam). The next course starts on Monday 13th September 2010.

The FCE exam Preparation Course is designed for students who intend to take their Cambridge First Certificate in English. The course is linked to the FCE exam date. The full course lasts for 7 weeks (6 weeks tuition followed by the week of the exam).

Courses for teachers
Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA):
This is THE basic training course for teaching English to non-native speaking adults. If you want to teach English effectively, the CELTA qualification is a must. There are many jobs for English teachers with the CELTA qualification, especially (though not exclusively) overseas. Indeed, the ELC is regularly approached by language schools looking for recently-qualified teachers with the CELTA qualification.
