Travelling to York
The nearest International airport is Leeds/Bradford Airport (45 minutes from York by taxi transfer) but our students often use Manchester, Teeside, Newcastle, Doncaster (Robin Hood), Humberside and Sheffield - all within 2 hours' transfer. Further away are Liverpool, Birmingham, East Midlands, Stansted, London Heathrow, London Gatwick and Luton airports.

Manchester Airport has its own railway station inside the airport and trains to York (every hour including Sundays) take less than 2 hours.
From London Heathrow Airport, there are frequent Underground trains and buses to King's Cross Station in central London. York has excellent rail links with London - under 2 hours away - and there are trains at least once an hour from King's Cross Station. How about an internal transfer flight from Heathrow to Leeds/Bradford?
From Stansted Airport (north of London), there are trains every hour to York, though you will have to change trains at Peterborough.
From Gatwick Airport, the most convenient route is via London (King's Cross Station).
There are frequent ferries to nearby Newcastle and Hull, from Scandinavia and northern Europe.

Travel within the UK
There are excellent travel links from York for students who wish to explore the UK. London is less than hours away by train, and Edinburgh is just over 2 hours by train. There are also direct train links to many other major cities, including Manchester and Bristol. For those students who would like to get some sea air the delightful English seaside resorts of Whitby and world famous Scarborough are under an hour away by train or bus from York.
