General English
The English Language Centre offers a year-round programme of General English courses intended for students
seeking to improve their English, for personal and professional purposes.
Students may choose from:
General English A
15 hours of classes each week, which take place Monday to Friday 09:15 - 12:45
(This course is not available during the summer, 1 June - 28 August 2009)
General English B
24 hours of classes each week, which take place Monday to Thursday 09:15 - 16:00
and Friday 09:15 - 15:00From 1 June to 28 August 2009 the course is called the Adult Summer General English Programme. This
includes an excursion every Saturday and more events in the social programme.
These courses feature a combination of general language improvement and communications skills work.
The focus is on improving grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation as well as developing the 4 key skills
of speaking, listening, reading and writing.
Groups, Levels and Ages
Students accepted all year round from Elementary to Advanced levels.Beginners also welcome,
but please check dates/availability before registering
Students grouped according to their level, following a
diagnostic placement testThere are usually up to 12 students in each
class, often fewer outside the summer periodThe General
English courses are for students aged 16 years+
A typical day’s timetable could be:

Please note that our teaching weeks comprise 15 and 24 contact teaching hours and that breaks and lunch
times are not included.
Assessments, Reports and Certificates:
Students are given regular progress tests at the Centre, based on work taught in class.
Progress test results along with progress reports from Course Tutors and teachers are recorded
to provide a close monitoring of students' language development. All reports are made available to
students and their sponsors as required. In addition all students receive an end of course Certificate of
Attendance, and if requested a final report detailing their level and language ability. Click here for fees.
