Junior Summer Programme
22 June - 28 August 2009
Our special junior summer holiday course combines lessons in the classroom with
fun activities which are also designed to improve English.
The programme is open to students age 12 to 15, for a minimum of 2 weeks.
24 hours every week, Monday to Friday (15 hours in-class tuition, plus
afternoon activities)
Classes of up to 16 mixed-ability multinational students -
project groups of 4 to 6 students in the classroomEach day
includes a formal grammar lesson and more flexible project work
in the classroom.
Practical activities every afternoon - for example, sports,
treasure hunts, film making, drama workshops, river trips, ghost
walks, visits and guided tours to places of interest around the
medieval city of York. All activities are accompanied by a
member of staffQualified and experienced staff
Students may start on any Monday
We accept students from 'pre-intermediate' to 'advanced' on
this course - it is not suitable for 'beginners'
The course fee includes all books and materials, activities each
afternoon, and a weekly excursion (including transport and entry
tickets)
Excursions may include:
Whitby - experience the English seaside
Castle Howard - one of the most famous stately homes in Britain
North Yorkshire Moors - one of England's largest National ParksHaworth - home of the famous Bronte sisters, authors of Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre and other novels
Please note there is a Supplementary Registration Form for Juniors which
must be completed by parents or guardians
All activities on the Junior Programme are fully supervised by trained staff following the Health & Safety Guidelines for such activities. The Academic Director - Mrs Judy MacDermot - has personal responsibility for the welfare of Junior students.
