York benefits from excellent travel links.
You can easily reach the city by air, sea, rail or road.
Travel to York by Air The nearest International airport is Leeds/Bradford
Airport. There is an excellent bus service
from this airport to York. The journey by bus takes

It is also very easy to travel to York from Manchester
Airport. There is an excellent train service from inside this
airport to York. The journey by train is approximately 2 hours.

Other airports within 2 hours by car are Liverpool, Teeside,
Newcastle, Doncaster (Robin Hood), and Humberside. From London Heathrow Airport,
there are frequent Underground trains and buses to King's Cross
Station in central London. York has excellent rail links with
London - under 2 hours - and there are trains at least once
an hour from King's Cross Station. Alternatively, you could take
an internal flight from Heathrow to Leeds/Bradford Airport. From
Stansted Airport (north of London), there are trains every hour to York
(you will have to change trains
at Peterborough). From Gatwick Airport, the most convenient rail route is via London (King's Cross Station). We can organise taxi transfers for you from any airport.
Travel to York by Sea
There are frequent ferries to Newcastle and Hull from Scandinavia and northern Europe.
Newcastle and Hull are approximately 1.5 hours from York by car.
Travel within the UK
There are excellent travel links from York for students who wish
to explore the UK. London is around 2 hours by train,
and Edinburgh is just over 2 hours by train. There are also direct
train links to many other major cities, including Manchester and
